Barcelona - Elche Betting Preview: Back the Catalans to get amongst the goals

Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes Barca can get off to a winning start and explains why they should have little problem in netting four goals against the visitors
Barcelona kick off their season with an extremely winnable home fixture against an Elche side who stayed up last year based almost exclusively on their home form.

On the road, the side from Alicante were pretty poor and their away troubles are likley to continue at the start of the current campaign at the Camp Nou despite the home side missing the services of Neymar through injury.

Barcelona are as short as you are likely to see them this season at home - they are priced at 1/10 (1.10) for the win - while Elche are offered at 20/1 (21.00) and the draw can be backed at 8/1 (9.00).

Yet the Blaugrana will win this game and should be able to score a few goals in the process and that gives punters a potential angle which can be exploited. Last season Elche kept just two clean sheets in 19 away games and at the Camp Nou they conceded four.

The sale of combative Colombian midfielder Carlos Sanchez (nicknamed The Rock for his solidity) means Elche look considerably more lightweight in the centre of the park, something that Barcelona should be able to exploit.

Barcelona to win and over 3.5 goals in the match is offered at 5/6 (1.83) but for a healthier price backing Barcelona to net over 3.5 goals looks a better option at 6/5 (2.20).

Last season Barca scored four or more goals at home eight times in the La Liga campaign, with the majority of those coming against the divion's lower ranked sides and their opposition this weekend could be on the end of another commanding performance from the Catalan club.

Elche are one of the favorites for relegation this season and another hefty defeat at the Camp Nou could well be on the cards. 6/5 (2.20) on Barcelona to net four times or more offers punters an interest in a game where the hosts are simply too short to back on a single basis for most punters
